There is much to see and do in Key West and below we give a list of just some of the major attractions.
Audubon House: 205 Whitehead Street. 18th Century antiques, original Audubon engravings, tropical gardens, audio tour and museum store - Adults $7.50 special rates for seniors, students and children. 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
East Martello Tower: Civil War Fortress next to the entrance to Key West International Airport, on South Roosevelt Blvd. $6.00 adults, $2.00 children. 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Fort Zachary Taylor
State Historic Site: Combine a trip to the beach with a tour of historic Fort
Zachary Taylor. An important Civil War Fortress held by the Unionist forces.
Open 8:00 a.m. until sunset every day. Entrance via Southard Street through
Truman Annex

Harry S. Truman Little White House Museum: Restored Winter White House used
by President Truman, also Eisenhower and Kennedy. In the Truman annex area.
Hemmingway House:
Key West home of the famous author, now a museum. Situated at 907 Whitehead
Street, on the corner of Whitehead and Olivia Street. Open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m.(last tour begins 5 p.m.) Adults $7.50.
Key West Aquarium: At Clinton Square, where Whitehead joins Front Street. Very
interesting collection of tropical fish and mammals. Guided tour recommended
and is included in the entrance fee, $8.00 adults, $4.00 children. Open daily
from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., tours @ 11 a.m. , 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. and 4:30
p.m. Ticket allows re-entry all day.
Key West Cemetery: The 1847 above ground resting place. Corner of Frances Street and Angela Street. Tours available.
Lighthouse Museum: The first brick lighthouse built in 1847. In use until 1969. Open daily 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Adults $6.00, children $2.00. 938 Whitehead Street.
Mel Fisher Maritime Museum: Corner of Whitehead and Green Street. See treasures found by the late Mel Fisher and learn how he struggled to find and keep it. Adults $6.50, children $2.00. Other discount schemes available. Open 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Memorial Sculpture Garden: Sculpture garden of famous historic Key West citizens, adjacent to Key West Chamber of Commerce at Mallory Square. Admission free - donations gratefully accepted.
Medicine Garden: Located at the end of Windsor lane on Amelia Street. This peaceful oasis is a place for quiet thoughts and contemplation. Donations gratefully received.
Nancy Forester's Secret Garden: Located at the end of Free School Lane, which is off of Simonton Street, between Fleming and Southard Streets. Admission $6.00. Rare collection of tropical plants and trees and some very colorful and chatty parrots.
St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church Grotto: Visit the grotto built in the same design as the grotto in Lourdes France. This was built by one of the Nuns at the Church in 1919 and she vowed that as long as the grotto stood Key West would not suffer the brunt of another hurricane. So far so good. Situated on the side of the church on the corner of Windsor Lane and Truman Avenue.
Southernmost Point of the USA: This is marked by a buoy at the Atlantic end of Whitehead Street on the corner of South Street. Parking is not allowed in the immediate area.
The Key West Customs House: After a nine year, nine million dollar restoration, this large red brick building (near Mallory Square) is now open and serving as the Key West Museum of Art & History. Admission $6.00.
The Key West Harbor Walk: Running the entire coastline of the Historic Seaport from the Half Shell Raw Bar to Mallory Square and beyond. This is a wonderful area to stroll and explore day or night
The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory: The Florida Keys only Living Butterfly conservatory. Inside you will find flowering plants, cascading waterfalls and the real stars, the butterflies. You will see hundreds of butterflies from 60 different species. Do not miss this wonderful site. 1316 Duval Street Tel # 296-2988.
